Rakuya was founded back in 2018 with a simple desire to share our love of Japanese food with the world. We pride ourselves on offering an affordable omakase experience that is accessible to all. And with time, we’ve grown and evolved, but we’ve never lost sight of what makes us special.

Award Winning Kobe Beef

We are delighted to announce that we are one out of three licensed restaurants in Singapore to serve Japan imported Kobe beef.

Award-winning Kobe beef is a highly prized and sought-after delicacy that is known for its incredible flavor, tenderness, and marbling. Kobe beef comes from a specific breed of Wagyu cattle raised in the Hyogo prefecture of Japan, where they are fed a special diet and raised in a stress-free environment to produce the unique qualities that set Kobe beef apart from other types of beef.

Meet Our Head Chef

Chef David has a passion for exploring and experimenting with different culinary techniques, and incorporating unique fusion flavors into his dishes. He holds the belief that creating one-of-a-kind fusion dishes is paramount to his craft.

David began his culinary journey from humble beginnings and gradually ascended to prestigious roles in leading Omakase restaurants. Throughout his journey, he has maintained an unwavering respect for his craft, its creative origins, and the culinary experiences of his diners.

After completing his national service, David met his mentor Chef Teppei Yamashita, and spent over five years under his guidance, excelling from a cook to sous chef, eventually reaching the position of head chef.

With over a decade of experience in Japanese cuisine, David’s leadership and precision guide his team in crafting each dish with unparalleled creativity, ensuring that every flavor and texture complement each other perfectly.

Our Restaurant Manager

Meet Manager Ee Sim, a passionate individual who seeks to provide exceptional service and ensure that your dining experience is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He is the go-to person to recommend the perfect sake for your meal. During your dining experience, feel free to chat with him, and who knows, he might even offer you a taste of our very own sake label!
